MANJINDER SINGH SIRSA FILES CRIMINAL COMPLAINT AGAINST SHAHRUKH KHAN AND OTHERS FOR HURTING SIKH SENTIMENTS IN PROMO OF MOVIE ‘ZERO

’New Delhi, November 5 : The Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) General Secretary Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today filed a criminal complaint against Bollywood star actor Mr. Shahrukh Khan and others for hurting sentiments of the sikh community in the promo of movie ‘Zero’ by showing the cine actor wearing Kirpan in pic. In a complaint filed with the police at North Avenue, Mr. Sirsa said that they have received a number of complaints from the Sikh Sangat for hurting the sentiments of Sikhs by promo of movie "ZERO" directed by Mr. Aanand L Rai. He said that in the promo of the the movie film actor Shahrukh Khan has been shown wearing "Gatra Kirpan" (Article of Sikh Faith) and in their movie promo which has created an outrage among Sikh community worldwide. He told the police that as per the Sikh rehat Maryada only Amritdhari Sikh person can wear Gatra Kirpan. He requested the police to lodge FIR against the movie Director Aanand L Rai and Film actor Shahrukh Khan. He also urged them that the promo of the ZERO movie showing actor Shahrukh Khan wearing Gatra Kirpan should be stopped without any delay. Mr. Sirsa said that Sikhs cannot tolerate that any movie star or the film itself shows the sikh tenants or articles of faith in bad light. He said that in this movie promo the film star not only appears wearing the Kirpan but also the poster shows the star in a lighter mood thereby further showing the sikh article of faith in a lighter vein. He said that Sikhs cannot tolerate such mischievous acts either in films or in real life. He said that Sikh Guru Sahiban have given enough power and strength to the Sikhs to fight with such situations if they arise in their life. Mr. Sirsa in separate communications to the Chief of Censure Board and Director and Actor Mr. Shahrukh Khan have apprised them of the issue concerning the community and have urged them to stop this promo as soon as possible to avoid any social contradiction. He hoped that sensing seriousness of the matter all concerned will act soon in the matter.
